I took my son to an oral surgeon this week for a consultation on extracting his wisdom teeth. In the waiting room we saw this amazing photograph of a Hobie Cat race on the Chesapeake Bay. My cell phone picture of this 6 foot wide photo doesn’t really do it justice. Here’s one of the million reasons why I enjoy our area so much.

Man, was it hot over the weekend! What did you do to make yourself more comfortable, pass the time and survive the heat? I went to a waterpark, had fun in the water all day, then went to a movie later Saturday night. We had a great time and it was the perfect way to enjoy a really hot day outside. We saw “Inception” which was terrific. It was really interesting and thought provoking. I’d give it a 9 on a 10 point scale. I think I need to see it again to take in more of the movie. Don.

I’m trying hard to eat right these days and eat less. I love to eat. I enjoy going out to eat, but look at the size of this sandwich I recently ordered at one of my favorite restaurants. It was delicious, but huge! Big enough to make two meals out of! Wow!

Last night we went to see John Mayer at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater. There were a lot of people there and it was pretty warm outside! John put on a good show and performed his hits and a number of cover songs.

While we were on vacation we saw this ATM traveling down the road at 70 miles per hour in North Carolina! Was this being delivered or what?

Over the weekend, Karen, her son Daniel and I saw Toy Story 3.  It came highly recommended from our 2WD Facebook fans and it scored a whopping 9.1 on a 10 point scale on IMDB.com which you may recall is pretty accurate for movie rating scores.  I thought the movie was outstanding and a 9 in my book.  It was so well done and it was great to see all the old toys that my siblings and I had like the Fisher-Price phone, Barrel of Monkeys, Tonka Trucks and more.  You and your family would love this movie.  Don.

Last night, we went to see Michael Buble’ in concert.  Karen treated for dinner and then we headed down to Norfolk for the concert.  Naturally 7 opened for Michael and they were terrific!  Very entertaining, original and fun.  Michael Buble’ was excellent.  His band was terrific and we had a great time.  Here are some of the pictures I took.  Don.

Over the weekend, Karen, Donald and I went to the Atlanta area.  It was a great trip.  We met some of Karen’s relatives, went water skiing, boating, had some great meals, and went to the CNN Center in downtown Atlanta.  Here are some photos of Karen and I at CNN.  Hope you had a great 4th of July.  Don.

 

What’s being built at Witch Duck Road and Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach?  It’s the area near Bayside Hospital.  The old strip malls that faced each other are being torn down and I drive by there everyday.  Those buildings really needed to go.  I’ll try to find out what’s happening over there.  I hope it’s a new Target shopping area.  Wouldn’t that be great?
