What a weekend!  Happy Holidays.  I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  It was a non-stop “Food Fest” for me every day!  There wasn’t anything that I didn’t eat.  Karen had a great dinner at her home Wednesday night and then I was off to Indianapolis for a brief visit with my parents.  While there, my sister had us all over for Thanksgiving dinner.  We went out to eat at one of my favorite deli’s and went out for some great pizza later that night at Donato’s.  There were cookies, pies, ice cream, chips and more highly nutritious food all week long.  At the Charlotte airport, it was bbq sandwiches and Cinnabons.  I’ll get back on the scale in about two weeks after I burn off all of the holiday eating so I can get ready for the Christmas feasts!

Friday night, my lovely girlfriend Karen and I went out to dinner with some friends and headed over to the Don Henley concert at the Ted Constant Convocation Center (aka:  “The Ted”) on the campus of Old Dominion University.  We had a great time and really enjoyed the show.  I had seen Don Henley a couple of times before and with the Eagles several times.  Don Heley was fantastic as usual.  He’s a perfectionist on stage and strives to make his concert performances sound just like the original recordings.  Don was on stage with six other musicians and two back up singers.  We had a great time and the crowd seemed to love the show.  Here are a few pictures from Friday night’s show and the set list.

Wow, it’s already Friday.  Where does the time go?  Tonight, I’m going to see Don Henley in concert at ODU.  I’m a big Eagles fan and Don Henley is tremendous.  If you’re an Eagles fan, you might check out the Don Felder book “Heaven and Hell”.  It’s interesting.  This weekend, I’ll be going to the movies and getting somethings done around the house.  Errands too.  Hard to believe Thanksgiving is this coming week.  Have a great weekend.  Don.

Brilliant and Simple…

Each morning I eagerly check my email for my Daily Words of Wisdom from Rev Run (you know, Run DMC, holla!)…and more often than not, I SWEAR he writes them just for me…like today’s for instance:

DO YOUR PART.  Your job is to take care of the possible, and let God take care of the impossible.

Thanks, Rev.  I needed that.

Last night, Karen and I saw Jim Brickman at the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News.  What a great show!  Jim did an excellent job and we really enjoyed it.  Jenna from the 2WD Morning Show introduced Jim to a pretty full house.  Jim’s a great guy who I’ve know for over 10 years now.  He’s a real talent too and his music is now known all over the world.  Here’s a picture of Karen and I with Jim last night before the show.

Wow, what a great weekend it was!  Perfect weather.  This week, I’m looking forward to seeing Jim Brickman in concert.  He’s at the Ferguson Center For The Arts this Wednesday night.  He’s a great performer and very personalble.  He was on the “Jenna in the Morning Show” this morning on 101.3, 2wd and he’ll be back on tomorrow morning as well.  The Ferguson Center For The Arts is a beautiful venue in Newport News and it’s a short drive from Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.  Visit http://fergusoncenter.cnu.edu/ to learn all about it and their upcoming events.  My teeth are already getting straighter now that I have my Invisalign trays in.  I got them last Thursday and they truly are barely noticeable and I can already see a difference.  Drs. Klar and Dr. Voorhees have done a great job for me.  I wear each set of trays for two weeks.  It’s going great and I’m just a few days into it.  Have a great week.

The other night, Karen, Carter and I saw “This Is It”, the Michael Jackson documentary film with a “behind the scenes” look at the rehearsal sessions for the tour he was getting ready to launch.  It was really interesting to see the massive amount of people working on the production and seeing the creative genius of Michael Jackson hard at work.  I’ve played so many Michael Jackson songs during my radio career.  I had seen the Jackson’s at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan and I saw Michael Jackson on his solo tour in the Twin Cities so it was cool to see the “This Is It” tour coming together in documentary form.  If you’ve been a fan of Michael Jackson’s music and you’d like to see this unique look at the “making of the tour”, I’d highly recommend the movie.  In other big Don London news, I got my Invisalign braces from Drs. Klar and Dr. Voorhees in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.  Those are the clear trays that are hardly noticeable.  I am thrilled.  I have wanted these for so long and I can already feel that they are moving my teeth.  The process is really fascinating and I can’t wait to see the final outcome in the next several months.  Here’s an animated picture of my teeth with “hooks” on the teeth that need to move and turn slightly.  I’m telling you this is amazing.  I couldn’t be happier with the awesome staff at the offices of Drs. Klar and Dr. Voorhees.

Patient appreciation party

Posted in: Uncategorized

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Last night, Drs. Klar and Dr. Voorhees had their patient appreciation party which I attended to help host and judge costumes. Everyone that came out had a great time and won some great prize from Klar – Voorhees Orthodontics and 101.3, 2WD. Here are some great pictures from the party including more of the Klar – Voorhees staff and some of the winners. It was great to meet all of the patients and 2WD listeners as well as many more of the Klar – Voorhees Staff Members. Saturday night is Halloween and it’s going to be sunny and 80 here in Hampton Roads. Perhaps it would be a good idea to buy some extra candy with the weather being so nice. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour this Saturday night as Daylight Savings Time ends. Have a great weekend and watch out for Trick Or Treaters!
